Impressions of Greece
A women, who really loved Greece, invited me to the island of Agistri and took me there. She was my guide. When I was standing on the shore of the island, my eyes really opened and, eventually, my senses began to work as if they had been linked together with invisible web, as if the blue of the eyes had been the gate to the feelings stirred up by the flavour of the see, colour of the sun, and music of the wind. Just then I fully realized how blind I was before I had seen Greek sun, and how blind I was before I had seen the blue of my eyes in the abyss of Greek sea. Warm wind wrapped me up tightly and whispered about the sun which was just crying that it did not want to sleep, that it wanted to shine for me, for my blue window.
I cannot make a good choice of my location in the open air from hundreds of proposals available on the Internet. In such situations, I use my intuition. Once, I wanted to go to the Biebrza river. I opened a map and pointed at an excellent, enigmatic place with my finger. What happened afterwards, what was the location, well, that is quite another story. But let's go back to my adventure with this beautiful Greek island. When I was walking along the coast and stumbling over rocks which emerged from the vastness of the blue, I came across a boarding house located just over the beach. A women, who was my guide in this land full of olive trees, did not believe that we would get accommodation right away; you know, the week-end, summer, holiday, etc. However, my desire of accommodation turned (not for the first time) to be stronger than reality of normal life.
The boarding house was a perfect place for an artist. Georgija - the housewife - was wonderful. She created an excellent, warm atmosphere in the rooms with people and things used in everyday life. I did not have to walk on the ground to take to my work; I only opened the door of the building and plunged in the sea of the blue. Waves broke on the rocks that suddenly emerged from the ground. I am not able to describe or repeat words of these waves. They whispered (I had an impression... no, I am sure that they did it only for me) about their great strength, joy, pride, about adventures they experienced while drifting across the world, about people they met on the coast, about dreams, happiness and sadness of these people.
My camera worked at fool speed (looking at my photos, you may hear the whisper of the waves) and was tremendously delighted with the countryside which was so colourful, with light radiating from every piece of land and from every pebble.
My feelings are undescribable (it is impossible to sing or verbalize them). They will be only in my mind and bring back my memories which return whenever I look through my photos. I hope that you will have an opportunity (if you have the time) to sit down and bury yourself in this immense beauty of Greece. You will be able to watch it through my window opened especially for you. I wish you good views. If you are patient, you will see this colourful world in canvas. While painting, I felt euphoria associated with creating, copying clothes of the nature (like those of a beautiful lady), showing charm of porous rocks and vast, passionate Greece.
All will be done for millions of people to achieve their dreams or to find them.
